She was beautiful, strong - and empty.
She was popular, willful - a liar.
She hated herself; hid herself everyday,
waiting, just waiting, to burn in the fire.

And when her secrets came out,
the world came crashing down.
Around her, walls crumbled,
and this is what she found:

Don't trust them, they judge you;
don't whisper secrets on occassion.
Don't free yourself, stay locked away;
there is no such thing as liberation.

He was quiet, shy - screaming inside.
He was smart, kind - constantly lying.
He hated himself; hid himself everyday,
waiting, just waiting, to quicken the dying.

And when his secrets came out,
the world came crashing down.
Around him, walls crumbled,
and this is what he found:

Don't trust them, they judge you;
don't whisper secrets on occassion.
Don't free yourself, stay locked away;
there is no such thing as liberation.

Misunderstood,
the fear courses through.
Ignorance is cause of pain,
for everyone - even you.
Imagine a time
when all went so well;
everyone could get along
without raising all this hell.

Impossibility.

So when their secrets come out,
their world crashes down.
Around them, walls crumble,
and this is what they found:

Don't trust them, they judge you;
don't whisper secrets on occassion.
Don't free yourself, stay locked away;
there is no such thing as liberation.

Don't trust them, they judge you;
don't whisper secrets on occassion.
Don't free yourself, stay locked away;
there is no such thing as liberation.

No such thing as liberation.
I dunno, just kinda came to mind. To me it's about when LGBT people come out and are shunned immediately for it. It's terrifying, and it takes a lot of strength to tell people about it. When they decide to hate you for it, it has such a big impact.

the beauty about this is that even though the author intended it as an LGTB perspective, it is actually relative to other universal themes such as racial and sexual discrimination, religious and spiritual differences, and it all really comes down to people having the inability to accept and understand and harmonise, being caught in the cycle of separation and condemning what you do not understand. with that, how can humanity as a whole liberate themselves, individually and as an entire race, how can we evolve beyond primative behaviour of being fearful about survival to being loving and compassionate?
